Barry’s story is one of unwavering dedication and seamless transition. Having served in the Australian regular Army as an Infantry soldier and later as an Army Reservist, Barry’s operational experiences in East Timor, Operation Bushfires, COVID Assist, and Storm Assist shaped his commitment to service. After his military tenure, Barry embarked on a new chapter, seeking opportunities beyond the battlefield.
Navigating New Horizons
In 2022, Barry connected with Ironside Resources to explore opportunities outside his role as a Traffic Controller. With their guidance and the support of the Inclusive Jobs team at Spark, Barry underwent training to enhance his interview skills and readiness. Empowered by this support, Barry applied for the role of Diesel Clerk on the prestigious North East Link project in Melbourne’s north.
A Successful Transition
Barry’s journey reached a significant milestone when he secured the position of Diesel Clerk at Spark. His first day on the job, 8th March 2023, marked the beginning of a transformative experience. Over the past year, Barry has immersed himself in the intricacies of Victoria’s largest tunnel project, gaining invaluable insights and skills along the way.
